How setups are documented?

Setups are commonly documented on a setup sheet. Setup sheet is document which has all tuneable options of the car in understandable form. Traxxas has provided editable setup sheet in PDF format. It's recommended to always have few printed out blank sheets available, so it's possible to document good setups when needed.

Outdoors and dirt setups

This setup is good starting point for all outdoor and dirt tracks. For racing conditions out of box Slash has too active differential. Small amount (25%) of heavy silicone oil (300 000wt) inside of rear differential also helps the car handle much better. Be sure not to put too much oil in to the differential or it will be almost locked and then it's impossible to drive. If you hesitate your skills, Youtube has many how-to videos of the differential maintenance and shock maintenance.

  • Silicone oil 60 wt
  • Differential silicone oil 300 000 wt

  • Indoors setups

    This setup is for high grip carpet track. Old O-rings can be used as upstroke limiters. Be sure not to use any hard spacers as upstroke limiters, they can damage shocks. For racing conditions out of box Slash has too active differential (especially in high grip conditions). Small amount (25%) of heavy silicone oil (300 000wt) inside of rear differential also helps the car handle much better. Be sure not to put too much oil in to the differential or it will be almost locked and then it's impossible to drive.     Needed for this setup:
  • Upstroke limiters (O-rings works best)
  • Downstroke limiter clips
  • Silicone oil 80 wt
  • Differential silicone oil 300 000 wt
  • Camber gauge
  • Paddle tires setup

    Pro-Line Racing Sand PawFor bashing on soft terrain like sand, snow or grass, paddle tires are recommended. The Slash seen on the video Traxxas Slash Trails has Pro-Line Racing Sand Paw 2.0 Paddle Tires (1052-00) and RPM Slingshot wheels (RPM 81893). If this setup is used, it's recommended to cut body from rear wheel arches to have better clearance. Small amount (25%) of heavy silicone oil (300 000wt) inside of rear differential will help the Slash to transfer power to the ground much better. Be sure not to put too much oil in to the differential or it will be almost locked and then it's impossible to drive.
